Twins Two Month Update

Grayson (Left): My sleeper never the 1st to wake, makes you work hard for the new found smiles and coos. My slow eater, tinier babe.

Wyatt: Right: So bright eyed with wide mouth smiles, always talking. The first to wake, super fast eater, biggie baby.

Eating & Sleeping: Since you know that's all they do! From ten days to two months the twins were bottled fed breast milk every 3 hours. 6am-9am-12p-3p-6p. The 9p and midnite feedings were supplemented with formula. We've used Similac and Enfamil. Both have been totally tolerated. I was still getting up pumping at night so I had about a weeks worth of milk in the freezer. On Saturday the 21st I was fasting a mastitis infection with the antibiotic Keflex.  By Sunday morning I was in the ER with a burn like rash covering 80% of my body, a temp of 103 and HR around 150. At one point my )2 levels were in the 80's. I was eventually diagnosed with Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a rare reaction to infection/antibiotics. I was in the hospital for 5 days and unable to pump sufficiently to keep my supply, as well as dumping what I did pump. They used my small stockpile and are now strictly on formula. They've been eating every 4 hours and yesterday slept from 7:30pm-11:30pm took 4 oz slept until 5am took 4 oz, slept until 9am.  SERIOUSLY BEST BABIES IN THE WORLD.  I'm still pumping and hoping to start supplementing with breast milk within two days. Not sure my supply will ever back to what it was, especially since they don't nurse. Either way, my babies are healthy, happy and I am so HAPPY TO BE HOME!!!

Mia Isabelle: 3 Year Update

Dear Mia,
How can you possibly be 3 years old? Wasn't it just yesterday you were this tiny little bundle of squishy love/screams? All of a sudden you've become my most favorite person to hang out with. So curious, kind, energetic & loving, with a true zest for life.
Lately when you think you're in trouble you'll ask, "Daddy, are you happy?" You started taking ballet classes & appear to be as much of a natural as a 3 year old can be.  You love hunting for "spines & cones'"aka & pine cones. You got a little pink Vespa tricycle for your bday that we have just started practicing on this spring.  You keep asking to have a chicken party for your next birthday. You got your 1st board games at your bday too!! We've been playing The Squirrel Game & Doc McStuffins Operation almost every nite. You also love play
doh & sidewalk chalk.

I thought the transition from crib to bed would be atrocious but you handled it like a champion. Its actually more of a battle to put you to bed than when you were in the crib. At least for now. You watched your 1st movie, Frozen, with mom on Easter Sunday. You love singing Let It Go but I think you're starting to like Do You Want To Build A Snowman even better. Now I'm all excited to have you watch all my favorite Disney movies!! Today you watched Toy Story 2 wearing your Buzz Lightyear jammies. I've been excited to share these moments with you since before you were born Mia baby!!!!
All of a sudden in the last couple months you're a HORRIBLE eater!!! Sometimes you eat so little throughout the day I don't know how you have any energy.  The only things you'll eat on a regular basis are waffles w peanut butter, oatmeal, berries & mac & cheese. Oh and cake anytime, anywhere. Like mother like daughter.

You are super articulate & we have he cutest conversations. Just the other morning while driving to Nana's before  work you asked,  Mom? Am I growing bigger? Will I walk on stilts? Do I have to join the circus? One of the only verbal concepts you've haven't mastered is the concept of tomorrow or yesterday. You always say last morning. "Mom, I don't want to to take a bath, I took one last morning. Hahaha We read books every nite before bed but I am not sure that you have one specific favorite. In the top 5 would definitely be Little Critter My Trip to the Hospital by Mercer Mayer, King Jack & The Dragon by Peter Bently , any Fancy Nancy & One Fish, Two Fish.

You have always been petite & are still on the tiny side. Weighing 26 lbs you're only in the 5% for weight. At 36.5 in tall you're in the 11%for height. You wear mostly 3T & a size 7 shoe. You're very capable of being pee potty trained but still have no interest in anything else. Lucky for me you still let me pick out your clothes, although if it was up to you, you would wear your bird dress everyday.  When you're stubborn streak comes out I point the finger at daddy & grandma. When your contrary streak comes out I point my finger in the mirror & at grandpa!!!!!

We love watching you grow & are so lucky to be on the receiving end of your endless hugs & kisses. Choose happy my sweet baby girl.

Mia Isabelle: 30 Month Update

Last week we went for Mia's 2.5 year check up. I didn't even know this existed until I called the pediatricians office to beg them for a flu shot this week & they told me we needed to come in. You bounced between excitement & nervousness. It went from,  Let's go see the fish tank to I don't want to get a shot. That seems to be a classic representation of your mind set right now. You 'll ask for a glass of milk, we hand it to & BAM, shrieking, thrashing, I don't want milk. I can physically see you trying to control & manipulate situations.

You are 35 inches & 24 lbs, in other words suuuuper skinny!!! You are starting to wear some 3t, size 6-7 shoes.As much as you like to do things independently getting dressed isn't one of those.  You don't have much interest in picking out or putting on your clothes, unless its pjs at night.  I've been teaching you Right from Left by Saying, Rightie, Leftie, get into your home, when we put on pants. You can almost count to 20 perfectly. Usually around 16 there might be a mistake. You know our address by heart.

For the most part you are well behaved & extremely polite, great with thank yous. It has been amazing watching you become a big sister. Even after 7 months you're still obsessed with Wesley, constantly squeezing and chatting with him. It cracks me up when you say, "my little chunky Wesley, you're so cute & chunky." HAHA You've had 3 hair cuts, daddy has taken you every time.

There isn't much to say about your vocabulary, since you can basically converse like an adult & repeat any word we may try & teach you. You still sleep through the night amazingly well, although this past month getting you into bed has looked like a bad episode of Super Nanny. Screaming, thrashing, hitting your hid against the back of the crib.  Thank goodness you are still in your crib or you may never have gone down on those nites. With any difficult situation my inner voice always tells me , this too shall pass. Just like all the rest of your challenging behaviors (like crying 8 hours a day as an infant) the nite time battles seem to be waning

You love Dora, Diego & Daniel the Tiger.  You know how to use the ipad, better then I do & bring up Netflix like a pro.  You have several different apps that you play, Endless Alphabet is one of our favs.  Your most favorite thing in the world has to be playing outside.  You love splashing in the puddles, rock collecting & racing around the playground making friends. If you see a new friend you'll say, Mom, ask her name. I try to encourage you to ask.  It amazes me how you thrive in every new situation and remember details months later.   

Potty training is not happening & I know its my fault. I need to spend three days putting you on the potty every 30 minutes but I'm too lazy.  I keep hoping I'll wake up one morning & you'll be all about the potty but so far you r content with pull ups. #momfail  I have no idea how much I should be pushing you, the pediatrician doesn't seem concerned so I'm really not either.

You're super affectionate lately, especially with me. I get like 20 unsolicited I love you mamas (melt) every day. You've been waking up between 630-700, & getting into bed w me. You'll say, Let's snuggle in this cute raspy voice. I don't ever want to forget.

We love you so much Mia. You are the storm cloud & the sunshine in my every day.

24 Months

This will be the last post that I refer to your age in months. You are now my BIG 2 year old. At your two year well check up you weighed 22lbs & measured 33 in. tall. You grew 2.5 in 6 months, jumping into the 50% for height & weight. You were in the 10th%!!!! Your still fit a  few 18 month things, mostly jammies, but primarily you wear2t. 

 You can tell people your're 2 & just this week you learned to spell you name!!! We are also working on spelling mom & Dad.  Daddy thought it would be cool to let you pick out the theme for your birthday party. So yesterday we took you too Party Outlet & you picked a ton of Mickey-Minnie decorations. 

My most favorite thing to hear you say is, "Mama, brother smile at me!!" Omg, it melts my heart into a mush puddle. Another sweet moment is a new bedtime ritual you created w Daddy. You give him FOUR kinds of good nite kisses, saying out loud before each kiss, Eskimo, Butterfly, Mooches, Scratchy face. I don't ever want to forget the sweet sweet innocence that you bring to each day.

Your most FAVORITE things to eat right now are bagel thins w cream cheese & apples w the skin peeled. You love having mini marshmallows for a treat. You have done an amazing job becoming a big sister. You adore Wesley & give him 100 smothering hugs & kisses everyday. We're dying for the weather to get nice. Not gna lie, I've been feeling guilty since brothers arrival at the amount of TV you've been watching. You love Super Why, Go Diego Go & Mickey's Clubhouse.

You are definitely going to be labeled as our willful, high drama child. Anything we tell you to do, immediately garners an opposite reaction. Lately you have been waking from our naps inconsolably screaming/crying. It takes a long time to settle you down. When your at Nana's she says you cry for mama, but when I am here you still wake up in a horrible state. 

Hearing you say, "chase me mom" & dissolving into giggles when I catch you makes me smile. Seeing your tender heart when brother cries & you say "pick him up mom!"  You make everyday an adventure Mia Isabelle!!

22 Months

This morning Daddy & I asked you what your favorite word is. You hesitated 5 seconds & then vehemently stated, "Mine."Most definitely a sign that the terrible twos have arrived. Not that we needed a sign as you yell no 100 times /day. Minimum. NO is often accompanied by you flinging whatever you shouldn't be touching to the ground or possibly even yourself. It is fun times, let me tell you!!!
All of this awesome behavior was probably exacerbated by your 1st ear infection & the arrival of 2 more bottom teeth (finally)!!!!!

You weigh 20 lbs 14 oz & wear a size 5 shoe. Clothes are between 18months & 2t. You love to go to parties, eat cake & have "coffee clache" w Tachee. Lately saturday mornings involve a trip to Starbucks & story time at the library.

You have a new found love of accessories & randomly walk around the house in hats, sun glasses or rainboots. gettting your coat & shoes on to go bye bye is another story. 90% of the time it's a wrestling match. My tummy has gotten so big I usually have daddy tackle that task!!

You are a super smarty pants & can identify  the letters of the alphabet, 1-10, and several sight words.  Your favorite books lately have been picture books that allow you to read. For example you might say yellow banana or 8 blueberries based on the picture.

You still love barney & now have added Caillou & Mickey Mouse to your favorites. Strangely you LOVE jeopardy & part of our nightly ritual is to snuggle in our bed & watch it for a few minutes:) Your obsessed w babies (Ivie is your fav!!!). Whenever  your in a group of kids you always find the little ones and try to love on them by patting or hugging. You are super affectionate with us as well. I just melt when you say, "I wuv you mom!'  We can not wait to see you in your big sister shoes, your going to be amazing!!!. We love you Sweetheart!!!

20 Months

OMG... Do we as parents, ever stop saying, "the time is flying??" I'm sure we don't, but I know we wish fiercely to freeze time&stop our babies from growing so damn fast.

That being said, Mimi, you are the cutest, smartest toddler ever. Daddy & I  have enjoyed every moment with you this month. Except maybe  the  morning you fussed so much at daddy after he had worked all nite, that he called me to say he had left the house with 1 black shoe & 1 white.  I enjoyed that immensely but, him, not so much! LOLOLOL

You speak in sentences consistently now. Sentences  like Mama, look at that & Mimi do it, can be heard everyday. Your amazed by the world around you and determined to assert your independence while discovering it.
You seem to be enjoying the holiday season & absolutely love the real 8.5 foot Christmas tree daddy got for us. Every morning you switch the lights on & touch your favorite ornaments. You love when daddy waters the tree & ask "Christmas tree tursty (thirsty)?"

Your coordination has improved dramatically this month, & your not constantly tripping & falling everywhere. You climbed the jungle gym & went down the big slide all by yourself for the first time this weekend.

A few things have stayed the same. Your a fantastic eater. You sleep through the nite & take a decent afternoon nap.  Riding with you in the car is tortuous. when you were tiny you would scream & scream. Now you whine & fuss, rapid firing questions until my brain hurts. Your still rear facing in my truck. daddy says you do with him, possibly bc your front facing. Sadly I am your primary chauffeur.
Still wearing primarily 18 month. Clothes. Size 5.5 shoe. You only have 10 teeth,4 bottom-6 top.

You love music & our breakfast ritual involves listening to the record player. In my car you love to listen to a kids cd I found. You FAVORITE song is Chug Chug, Toot Toot. Your obsessed with trains in general.  You love putting your hand in the animal cracker bag & guessing what your going to getCat, mama? Cow? Chores are especially fun , you love helping to empty the dishwasher or switching the laundry from the washer to the dryer.

Daddy & I truly know how it feels to have our heart walking around outside our chest. It's terrifying & amazing in one breath. We love you angel girl .  

19 Months

I was getting ready to do an Around Here Post & I realized it was my baby's 19 month birthday!!! It's been a craaaazy work weekend, but here we go with some random thoughts!!.
Here you are in time out for throwing toys!!!! Gorgeous & Naughty!!!!

You have been giving lots of unsolicited "I wuv u mamas (insert daddy, or everyone else you know:) It's heaven!!! Officially obsessed with Barney's I love You song!!! You can also be heard singing Old McDonald, Row Row Row Your Boat & Twinkle Twinkle (don't forget Shake it for me!!!)

Can finally correctly answer, "what color is........?  Mama was convinced you were color blind for a while!!!!  Also still loving to identify shapes and playing with your shape sorting toys & puzzles.

This month you've said goodbye to most 12 month clothes and are pushing from 18 to 24 month clothes!!!!!

Today you had a play date & said your longest sentence to date. " I show Gaggy heli-hocker?"  Translation: I want to show Gavin the helicopters in the sky!! You also requested to show him your favorite shape, octagon!!!!! Here you are with Pop Pop playing airplanes!!!!

We've added some new books to our favs list. All the Eric Carle books, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Hello Bee, Officer Buckle & Gloria (about a policeman & his dog:) Pictured: Reading Officer Buckle to Daddy.

Your still pretty excited about brother & Gma Tachee has you referring to him as baby brother Guillaume.....eek

You discovered condiments & now request dip at pretty much every meal. Usually ketchup or bbq sauce. You are using a spoon/spork fairly proficiently.

You do this weird squinty thing with your eye & trip like 100 xs a day. I'm paranoid & taking you to see a pediatric opthamologist bc your family history is pretty much guaranteeing your going to be blind in at least one eye. Sorry about that!

Seeming very interested in the potty. You like to sit on your lil kiddie seat at our house & Nana's. If I wasn't so lazy I could probably potty train you pretty quickly!!! You also like crayons, although you haven't used them a ton. This picture is technically your 1st drawing ever:)

You still take a binky at naptime & bedtime but i
am feeling pressure to take it away. This week we stopped offering it to you for car rides & it has been hellacious.  I'm dreading taking it away at bedtime. You may still need binky when your 30 based on this weeks little experiment!!!

You spent your first full weekend just you & Daddy while mama went to Detroit for work. You both had a blast!!!! Daddy took you to get new shoes at Stride Rite. You were wearing 4.5 & when they measured your feet you were a 5.5. ooopppppsie!!! Daddy took the last pic of you running at Blendon Woods!!!
