Date Nite

Last nite we went back to The Rossi Bar + Kitchen to use our groupon.  Carrie & Phil (sister in law & boyfriend) came too. The food at Rossi is like amped up Americana. Think duck pot pie, ham & Gruyere grilled cheese & a bbq bacon egg appetizer YUMMY! Don't forget the Sweet Mercy as your (my) cocktail of choice. Carrie took these pics for my outside the Rossi. We cracked up as everyone looked at us like we (I) was crazy. I'm pretty use to that!!
I got this Gap dress just before Vegas & it makes me happy that the cooler nites are hanging around. Usually it's hard for me to find to find maxi dresses that don't swallow me up because I'm petite (5'3). This one fits PERFECT!! Damon threw it in the dryer after Vegas & I was nervous to put it on, thinking it would be too small, but it actually fit even better. It was a hair too long before he
dried it.
Spoiler Alert** Spider-Man was great. Sad but great. That's all I have to say about that!
This morning we took advantage of being kidless to indulge in our favorite brunch, Cloud Nine pancakes at North Star Cafe. I love it when date nite lasts until the morning:) Happy Sunday!!

Craving Ikea, Nars & Mars

Sorry if you thought this was going to be a post with delicious recipes. You know I don't cook!!!!
When Damon & I went to ikea, besides the crib we picked up we DEFINITELY did not need any other furniture. We have FIVE expedit shelves in our condo for goodness sake!!! We ( I ) mostly eyeballed pillows & prints. I'm loving all things b&w so I snagged this throw for $20!!
OMG did you see this? A successful Kickstarter campaign helped launch The Veronica Mars MOVIE!!!!!!! Did I hear it's as soon as March?? I must say Logan has gotten much cuter in his older age...
I went into Sephora for the 1st time ever last week to find a dark spot remover. Yes, I'm that girl, mid 30's, regretting my teenage sun worshiping years.  I ended up asking the make up ladies about red lips & Voila, a full makeover. So FUN!!!!  I bought a few new products but still can't get my make up like this. Now I'm craving make up brush #61, pretty much a massage for your face. Is it weird to be craving a make up brush? Probably. Perfect red lips = Nars Jungle Red or Heat Wave.

Little Moments are the Best

Me: Do you know how much I love you?
Mia: More than ice cream?
Me: Yes, exactly!!!

Mia: Mom, my Dora picture (coloring book) is sooooo fascinating,  I'm going to take her picture.
For Wesley we've been introducing tons of new foods into our daily routine. Here he is munching on bananas & raspberries. His favorite snack is yobaby yogurt. He  learned to wave this week and is close to clapping.
On the lazy mom front, I have put very little effort into potty training my almost 3 year old. I had this glorious dream she would wake up one morning and potty train herself. Lo and behold yesterday morning she woke up, asked to sit on the potty & peed. She did this 3 more times though out the day.  NO prompting from me!!! This from the girl who has had a potty seat in her room for a year and only peed in it once. I'm pretty sure by the look on her face that was an unexpected accident.  GO Mimi GO!!!
This face is the quintessential Mia face. Trying so hard to be serious & very dramatic. She wants to be taken very seriously!!! She's also probably over me having my cameras (yes multiple!!) in her face.
On a non kiddo note, Sara & I snuck out last nite for dinner & a late movie.   I loved Walter Mitty but the 1st hour is pretty slow. If you don't love photography, cinematography, travel & Shirley Maclaine, it's probably not the movie for you.

Celebrate Mom Everyday

Last nite I took my mom out for a belated Mother's Day dinner & movie. We had especially delicious sushi at Fugu, which has become my quick go-to sushi spot when haiku is too much. I always always get the Dragon roll but ventured out & tried the Fugu roll (lobster & mayo sauce) SOOO FREAKING GOOD!!!  Start with a seaweed salad. GO NOW!!!!!
Gatsby was great as well.  Is Leo DiCaprio our generations Robert Redford? I'm not sure......

Weekend Fun Times

We packed this weekend with tons of love & fun times. Thursday Damon & I managed to sneak away for our first movie in over 6 months!!  It was AWESOME. Don't forget my husband is a Trekkie. Our son is even named after a Star Trek character (not really, it just worked out that way!!!).
Wesley managed to sleep through the nite (10p-5a) on Thursday for the first time. Friday we took the babies to Blendon Woods. Wesley hung out in his car seat under a tree while Mia swung & we kicked a ball around. Saturday we met up with Tachee & Pop Pop for Brunch & Mimosa's at Mimi's Cafe, my new fav (Besides North Star, of course).  The boys showed off their new cars & we talked about a trip to Chicago this summer. I cherish the days we get to spend all together!!

I was trying to cook FAST while distracting Mia w a cookie so I may have (definitely) added too much sage. I didn't even measure,  just chopped and added everthing i had..OOOOps. Also used  a bagged pizza crust, just added some chia seeds & olive oil into the mix.

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400° F.

Good Medicine

A yucky cold is traveling around our house. First baby girl, now daddy. Hopefully I escape the wrath. Nothing worse then being sick when you have a crazy 9 month old to chase all over the house!!!!!!  I curled up in bed early on Saturday to get some extra rest & watched Easy A. Emma Stone is AWESOME. I loved her in The Help & now in this movie.  A girly flick that made me laugh out loud. Just what the doctor ordered:) (A few trips to Target too!!!)!

The Help

Off to see The Help with Sara. Hopefully it cheers me up. i washed my work clothes, the ONLY ones that fit me in my post-pregnancy not quite into my pre-pegnancy body, with a PINK CHAPSTICK.  I know from experience after those clothes hit the dryer I may as well throw them ALL away:(  I'm so upset..
