Sugar Magnolia

Last weekend my friend Allison & I took our kids to Goodale Park.  It was good in that we got some gorgeous pictures with the magnolias blooming like mad. It was bad because the kids hadn't napped. They ran around, totally not listening, eating macaroons for dinner and lying face down on the ground screaming bloody murder when it was time to go. That was my kid. It's a miracle we survived!! This was also the day I tried my first ever Dutch braid!!! Super perfect for chasing kiddos on a windy, park day!!! P.S Dance your way into the weekend w a little Grateful Dead Sugar Magnolia!!!!

This was my second concert at Legend Valley and I can't say enough about it. Such a great outdoor venue. It's a beautiful drive out, super easy parking/exiting. You can sit where ever you want. On Tim Mcgraw's lap? Practically!!!!  So happy to spend a beautiful Summer nite with my two besties!! As you can tell we got a little rowdier as the nite progressed....... I wasn't so sure about Cassadee Pope but when she sang Bed of Roses I was hooked!!!!

What I'm Doing Now

Listening to: Tom Petty's XM show Buried Treasure. Breakdown was on & the first line totally made me think about social media. I was posting a selfie. I know people have a love /hate relationship with them. I almost didn't post it & then I heard,  It's all right if you love me, it's all right if you don't. Thanks for the reminder Tom:)   Super excited for the Gin Blossoms FREE concert at Columbus Commons on Thursday August 21st!!!!!!

Reading: Wonder - I haven't started it yet, but I'll keep you posted!.

Watching: Breaking Bad Season I. Thank you streaming Netflix. Yes, I'm very late to the party & I already googled how it ends. I always read the last page first, I can't stand the suspense.

Buying: Make Up from Ulta Lips: Lorac Flower Child, super matte stays on almost as well as Nars!! Also splurged on the Urban Decay Naked II palette once I realized I've had some of my current eye shadows for 15 years!!!!!

Craving: Have you been to Nothing Bundt Cake in Dublin? Super close to my fav Matt The Miller, you'll find the most delicious, moist bundts ever!!!  Every flavor I've tried is addicting. I can't even pick a favorite. Cinnamon, chocolate & lemon perhaps?? GO NOW!!!

What She's Doing Now

Reading: Keith Richard's book Life. I'm obsessed with musical biographies. Would love to own this one.

Listening: I heard this song on the radio driving to work yesterday & loved it. Is the whole album good?  Did anybody notice my catchy title was a tribute to Garth Brooks? He's coming back on tour & I'm excited. I got into country music after he retired & never saw a Garth concert. Excited to fix that. No sneering non country lovers, he's a classic.

Watching: Just finished the 1st Season of American Horror Story on netflix. Also watching Season 3 AHS Coven. Our netflix account had been disconnected for awhile bc I lost my debit card & never updated the pmt info. Shocking I know. So excited to have it streaming again. Need to catch on Vampire Diaries, Homeland, & start Breaking Bad. When we aren't watching Dora of course.

Drinking: Sofia Coppola's Sparkling wines. Had a white at my dad's bday dinner & it was delish. He & my hubby drank some crazy Courvoisier.

Excited About: Damon booked our kid free Vegas getaway for this Spring. He promised he will take me to Love while we're there. Maybe we'll drive out to Zion again??

Trying: Lush Ocean Salt Scrub. These age spots are for the birds!!!!

Needing: Last minute Christmas Gifts. Seriously how cute would it be to customize a memory game w your favorite photos. Sadly I've forced myself to stop buying for my kids.  It's my parents & friends who I should be shopping for.

Something my littles help me remember everyday!!!!  Don't forget to play, pretend, read, shop (my personal fav!!), run, dance, sing!!!!!!!  My mom & dad are so good at embracing this. Just yesterday we all danced in their living room to this song..  If it seems like an odd choice, remember my mom & dad lived in New Orleans in the late 70's!!!!

We Touched the Sun

Sara & I made it to the Gary Allan concert again this year. He is my FAV. I was thrilled to hear so many of his older songs....Smoke Rings in the Dark still gives me chills.  The concert was outside at Legend Valley, Buckeye Lake. We had a BLAST!!  How awesome is this Native American rug my parents picked up in Colorado? I swear they are so much cooler than I am...lol

P.S From someone who hates beer but loves margaritas, the Bud Light Lime-A-Rita was pretty delicious and slightly buzzafying if that's a word....

Watch, Listen, Yum

With all of our shows on winter break we've been streaming Homeland. We are just starting the 2nd season & officially hooked. I also caught up on the last few seasons of Dexter, which was delightful in a twisted serial killer kind of way!!!

A few days ago I was driving, listening to my XM & switched on the Margaritville channel. Strangely Dave Matthews Band Satellite was on. I think it was a tribute to Dave's birthday!!! I had forgotten how much I love the sound of DMB & what a great album this is!!!!! Thanks Jimmy Buffet for reminding me!!

Mia & i shared a bag of Trader Joe's Butternut Squash Risottto & WE WANT MORE!!!  I think a trip to TJs might be in order this weekend.

Brothers of the Sun

In the midst of the hideous storms & power outages, Sara, my mom & I, headed out for a girls only road trip. Destination Pittsburgh for the Brothers of the Sun Tour w Tim McGraw & Kenny Chesney. YEAH!!!!!! It was a super easy 2hr 45min drive. We stayed at the Wyndham right downtown & walked across the river to Heinz stadium. We all exclaimed how cool Pittsburgh seemed, & we would love to come back & explore.. Anyone have any Pittsburgh must sees for next time??

The concert was AMAZING. I've always preferred Tim to Kenny, & he did not disappoint. Some of my favs 1, 2, 3.  Not to mention, hello SEXY!!!  Though I'm not as crazy about Kenny's lyrics, he is us dancing & screaming our brains out!!!  Happy birthday to my Mama & thanks to my bestie Sara for making it happen!! xoxox

I love the way music can so easily evoke a memory. When I was pregnant with Mia, "Mean" by Taylor Swift would come on and i would put one hand on my belly, sing at the top of my lungs & feel my baby girl dance. Now every time it plays I remember those moments & it makes me happy!!! This Taylor Swift/Coldplay mix reminds me of walking down the aisle...Apparently Taylor Swift is my friend..lol

How awesome is it to be able to listen to an album cover to cover? Long before the days of XM Radio and Ipods, we were driven crazy by cassettes. fast forwarding/rewinding took FOREVER. Thankfully my dad had given me this tape in 7th grade (had not quite transitioned to CDs yet). I could happily listen to Paradise by the Dashboard Light, 2 out of 3 Ain't Bad, and every other song on the album for hours!!
