At about 8 months I started offering Mia super soft chunks of all fruits &veg she had already tried in pureed form. I had seen a friend (Esther) do this with her baby & it looked like eating was fun!!! I started with small chunks of banana b/c its super squishy & so sticky it was easy for her to pick up & shove in her mouth. At 10 months she eats tofu, scrambled egg yolk, steamed veggies, blackberries, blueberries, chunks of cheese, turkey etc. She loves feeding herself!!! While she concentrates on picking up her food i do sneak bites of oatmeal, yogurt or other purees just for more calories. As chunks start hitting the floor I know she is full!
Baby Led Weaning, teaching baby to enjoy different tastes & textures. Letting her decide when she is full, not having to fight over every bite. No spoon swatting, ending up w/ pureed gunk all over. A typical breakfast, scrambled egg yolks with chunks of soft tofu & avocado. A few blackberries & watermelon. The trick is to offer plenty of the things i know she will eat while offering a small amount of something new (watermelon).
