Toes in the Sand Part II:Tortola

Cruising is so much fun because each morning you wake to a new port of call. Stepping out on to our deck the morning we arrived in Tortola, we were docked in a cove surrounded by mountains. This was a port we had nothing planned, which when cruising can mean your stuck at the touristy shops near the dock all day unless your brave enough to hitch a ride with a local cabbie. BUT here getting off the boat we came right to an activities desk so I was excited that finding a legit tour was so convenient. We hopped on an open air bus for a half day tour of the island. Let me tell you, I would not recommend renting a car on Tortola. The roads are 90 degree vertical inclines. It takes hair pin turns and serious maneuvering to get to the top of the island.

Damon thinks open air buses are fun!!!
Cane Garden Bay is a super popular beach. We walked down the sand looking at the houses tucked high in the mountains. I had some TASTY conch fritters here too!!
When scheduling your trip to Tortola it would be in your best interest to schedule during a full moon. That way you won't miss Bomba's (Naked?) Full Moon Party!
