Damn Right I Got the Blues

Over the weekend, our annual franchise conference was held in Chicago. We worked hard during the day & partied harder at nite! On Friday evening, we made our way to Buddy Guy's Legends, blues bar & restaurant extraordinaire!!! We had Seafood gumbo, bbq chicken, okra, corn bread & no exaggeration, THE BEST FRIED OYSTERS (WITH THE BEST REMOULADE SAUCE) ever!!! Melt in your mouth delicious...
Next was the music..All I can say is Tommy McCraken...WOW. Imagine a 350 lb man, around 75 years old, making his entire body jiggle (on purpose) while he twitched & gyrated across the stage doing crazy Kung Fu moves (he thought he was Elvis!!) He had a great voice but my ears could not comprehend what my eyes were seeing. Tommy McCraken..WOW! The headliner was Tinsley Ellis, a fantastic performer from Atlanta. He was not the old school raw, gravelly blues (he wasn't old enough to make that sound!), but more southern rock, tinted with the blues. We loved him!!!!!
Saturday nite was the award ceremony recognizing the franchises that have grown & achieved great things over the past year. In 2007, CFC (my company) had a banner year. We won a few awards & got some great recognition. Unfortunately, my dad (the brains behind the beauty:) wasn't able to be with us.. So this year it was awesome for my whole family to be together (Brandi is included in the family statement)! We have all have worked our tails off but didn't really feel like we would be receiving any recognition (not sure we thought we deserved any, we're modest like that..lol). As the last award of the nite was about to be presented, my mind was drifting off to which karaoke song Brandi & I would be performing, when suddenly I heard, FRANCHISE of the YEAR....us!!!! My family, franchise of the year. The grin on my dad's face was priceless. He was bursting with pride!! My mom was a little teary, & i was just totally shocked.
We came away from the conference so proud & motivated. I am SO lucky to share my greatest accomplishments with my family!! They wouldn't be so great without them....

In celebration, Brandi & I karaoked to C'mon N Ride It (The Train)..our favorite!
